Children’s Dentistry in Austin, TX
Our team of incredible dentists at our clinic knows a thing or two about patient care. We accept new and existing patients of all ages. We love when parents bring their kids in to visit with our dentists because they should be practicing good oral health hygiene as well!
From the first time you bring your baby into our clinic through their adult life, Lake Travis Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is here. Our knowledgeable staff are committed to providing your child with the unique support that they need to develop good oral hygiene practices early on and can provide comprehensive support for all of their dental needs whenever you need us.
Children’s Dental Care: The First Visit
The dentists at Lake Travis Family & Cosmetic Dentistry are focused on children’s dental health to ensure they’re equipped with the skills they need to take care of themselves independently. They suggest parents bring in their children for their first dental visit within their first year.
Their first appointment won’t consist of cleaning or exams like it would for older individuals. For children, we like to get them used to the experience, examine their teeth growth, observe pacifier habits, and more.
Preparing For Children’s Dentistry
Just like patients of any age, children often feel nervous or stressed during a dental visit. Our staff is well-trained to help kids in your area feel comfortable, relax, and even enjoy going to the dentist. We recommend having your child bring their favorite toy or blanket in case they do become anxious while they are there.
Making a Child-Friendly Hygiene Routine at Home
Since your child has small hands, you’ll want to get them a soft toothbrush with a small head and big handle. If your child is younger than three, use a rice-sized amount of toothpaste. After three years old, upgrade to a pea-sized amount. Give us a call today when you’re ready to bring your child in for a visit!
